Hello World,
So, Augmented Reality is crashing the Snapchat party again. This time they are allowing their users to create or draw their own augmented reality filters with 3D paint. Snapchat's newest twist really gives users a chance to be creative. Check out the videos at this site.

Chuck,
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. I like the way that a lot of our blogs tie in with popular technologies, it's easy to see updates and advances because everybody is using them. I think it's pretty easy to say that augmented reality is only going to get bigger and bigger as it is incorporated into more and more existing technologies. Looking forward to reading more posts.
Craig
Craig,
DeleteThanks for the reply. I agree with you for sure. Augmented reality is becoming a bigger and bigger part of our lives.
Chuck
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteI thought your blog post this week was interesting, I'm not on the up and up when it comes to snapchat and so I had to do a little diving into the subject to understand it more and how augmented reality fits in. My wife uses snapchat all the time and of course the augmented reality applications it offers. Thanks for the share.
Tony
Tony,
DeleteJust like you, I do not do Snapchat, but my wife and daughter are love to "snap." Once in a while my wife or daughter include me in their efforts with one of the AR filters like the evil rabbit. It is pretty cool. Thanks for the reply.
Chuck
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteI have not used Snapchat in the past and do not plan to, but I am not surprised that Augmented Reality is gaining popularity. The video did look pretty cool, I sure theirs all kinds of stuff you can do on Snapchat by integrating Augmented Reality. Thanks
Billy
Billy,
DeleteI do not use Snapchat either, but there are many applications with a variety of uses or specialties that are using or experimenting with AR. Let me know if you find one that you like. Thanks for the reply.
Chuck
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! As soon as I read your post, I opened my Snapchat and gave it a try. It will definitely need a few more updates as the options are few and not very versatile. However, like with all apps, they have to start somewhere and eventually with fine tuning they turn out to be great additions. Thanks for a great post, I didn't know Snapchat was adding a new capability.

Lisa,

ReplyDeleteChuck,
ReplyDeleteI find that you have changed the background color of your blog, I love bright colors, hhhh…
Although I have not downloaded Snapchat, I think Snapchat has made the most of AR to maintain the existing users and attract new users. I have to say AR is critical for the future development of the platform. Thanks for your sharing!

Jialu,
DeleteThanks for noticing my update. I think it is much more friendly and cheerful than my previous choice. I understand that you do not use Snapchat, but is there another application that you use which applies AR? Thanks for the reply.
Chuck
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that you could do such a thing with Snapchat. That's pretty cool, I might have to invade my daughters room, have her open up her account, and then play around with that capability. What's interesting about Snapchat, I have read some articles that describes how hard Snapchat has to work in order to keep up with Facebook, Instagram and Twitter....looks to me like they are doing a great job. Thanks for sharing.
Erric
Erric,
DeleteI would advice you not to invade your daughters room, but I appreciate your enthusiasm for trying the AR filters. Thanks for the reply.
Chuck
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteYou are right! As the technological world continues to evolve, we are beginning to see alot of new creative ideas from companies such as SNAPCHAT. Truth be told, I have a SNAPCHAT account and I do not even know these filters exist. I usually find out that a new update has occured, when I get a snapchat from someone, and I notice the cool features. I honestly think that we are headed in the direction where we will one day be unable to know the difference between reality and an augmented world.
What do you think?

Chuck,
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting topic. Augmented reality with Snapchat. I do not have a Snapchat account so I will not be able to try this out. It looks like it could be a fun tool being able to on paint in 3D. You could draw some funny things on your photos. I sure kids go wild with this app. I just asked my son about this app. He showed me this before but I thought it was a different app. Now he is drawing funny faces on my photo. It will be interesting to see the future of AR.
Mark
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteI do not have Snapchat but my teenage daughter dose. May have to "ground" her from her phone to try this out. I have been messing around with other AR apps. So far, my favorite is one that I place Dinosaurs chasing my dogs in the backyard. Like the wall mounted singing fish, I am the only one in the house that finds AR extinct carnivores chasing a howling basset hound amusing.
Maybe I can use the snapchat and 3D paint to make my Browns win a game.
Matt
Matt,
DeleteThanks for the reply. I am not sure this particular use is up your alley and it is probably not worth the family strife taking your daughter's phone will cause. I am interested in the dinosaur application though. Where can I find it?
Chuck
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteI have used this feature on snapchat many times! They have some pretty cool filters available.
